BDS MFDS RCSEd PGCert Dental Sedation and Pain Management
GDC Registration Number: 229825
Dr Emily Nesarajah graduated with her undergraduate degree from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2012. This was shortly followed by the MFDS exam at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Emily secured her foundation training in the sought after Kingston scheme of the London Deanery, before dedicating the next 7 and a half years to Community and Special Care Dentistry, both outside and inside London.
This role involved the management of highly phobic patients and a vast number of children. She gained incredible experience in Paediatric Dentistry over this time and was guided in her initial years by a specialist in this field. She also was responsible for the care of patients with additional needs, medical, physical and behavioural.
Emily prides herself on managing most cases by supporting and empowering the patient to undergo treatment. However, in select cases, she was also able to provide conscious sedation and carry out treatment under general anaesthesia (paediatric lists). Alongside her role in community dentistry, she has also worked for the emergency dental service for two separate trusts, covering out of hours dentistry, for a number of years. She continues in this role on an ad hoc basis.
In 2021, she progressed from Special Care Dentistry to the Ministry of Defence, carrying out dental treatment on adult military personnel, where she still carries out the majority of her work. As an interest from her time in Special Care Dentistry, Emily was keen to learn IV sedation and formalise her skills in providing inhalation sedation. She studied the postgraduate certificate in Dental Sedation and Pain Management from The Eastman Dental Institute, completing the qualification in the summer of 2022.
Outside of dentistry, Emily has an online Spiritual Mentorship practice, merging Eastern healing modalities with Coaching, to support her clients in transforming their lives. Emily enjoys cooking, travelling and supporting causes that provide a helping hand to those who lack opportunities.
